This afternoon I decided to bite the proverbial bullet and sit down to watch Brad Pitt's film 'Fury' again. It provided to be every bit as horrendous as I had anticipated with innumerable stupid errors of fact.
For example portraying notoriously effective SS units as being inefficient military bunglers, while pretending American tank units were extremely effective on the battlefields of World War II. The simple fact is that they weren't and often only won by sheer numbers and air supremacy as indicated by the fact that their crews often referred to their own machines as 'coffins'.
Another is the absurd portrayal of SS units being composed of grizzled veteran soldiers in their mid-late 20s in early 1945. This - as former Waffen-SS member Hans Schmidt noted some years ago in his review of 'Saving Private Ryan' - (1) is a complete fallacy as most of the Waffen-SS troops at this point were German teenagers who had just graduated from the Hitlerjugend.
Also of interest is the lack of notation as to which of the SS divisions Brad Pitt was supposedly fighting (after the SS involved in 'Fury' seem to be almost entirely infantry when SS units were almost all Panzer or Panzergrenadier units at this point in the war) and that is perhaps just as well as considering that the entire film is basically an insult to SS military profession and their frighteningly good military record.
Aside from the counter-factual lunacy of the film I would also point out that it is basically jewish revenge porn (a-la 'Inglorious Bastards'). The actors chosen to represent the Americans are nearly all jews: Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Jon Bernthal and Jason Isaacs (i.e. four out of the seven main actors). (2) Who are portrayed in the most positive terms possible (i.e. quasi-superhero style) [sans the fact that American tank crews were, according to James Bacque's 'Other Losses', notorious for committing atrocities against German soldiers and civilians] and then have sex with all the very willing beautiful blonde German girls (played by a German countess, a Russian model, a Romanian actress etc).
This is nothing more than jews screaming 'look at us you Nazi scum, your women prefer jews to Aryans in bed' on the cinema screen. It is quite frankly just sick and unlike 'Inglorious Bastards'; it doesn't have the saving grace of some quite funny moments.
I would write more than this normally, but quite frankly rather than being relaxed I am shaking with rage that this Germanophobic hate-fest could ever have made it onto the silver screen.
David Ayer and Brad Pitt deserve to be horsewhipped out of town and consigned to a very dark hole somewhere for this producing this cinematic and a-historical travesty.
This is a film you should only watch if you are jewish or have a fetish for Germanophobia.

Thank you Karl.
I can no longer watch the war films I enjoyed as a child, precisely because of the Germanophobia that they all force down our throats.
Are there any neutral or even pro German war films around?
Das Boot is maybe the only one I can think of.
Excellent review agreed same for "Saving Private Ryan", "Inglorious Bastards", "Schindler's List". Any thoughts on "Von Ryan's Express"?
