The Myth of the Brazilian Schindler: Aracy Moebius de Carvalho Guimaraes Rosa
Addressing an Absurd Interpretation of History
Aracy Moebius de Carvalho Guimaraes Rosa – otherwise known was the ‘Brazilian Schindler’ – is one of a coterie of individuals often labelled as ‘Righteous Among the Nations’ by Yad Vashem. Who countries around the world have come to lionize as their ‘national example’ of ‘bravery’ in ‘rescuing’ European jewry from the so-called ‘Holocaust’.
‘Jewish News’ ran an article lionizing Rosa which helpfully summarizes her positions, activities and why she is claimed to the ‘Brazilian Schindler’.
To wit:
‘Aracy Moebius de Carvalho Guimaraes Rosa, who obtained visas that paved the way for several Jews to take refuge in Brazil, was released on Wednesday. She also is known by the nickname “Angel of Hamburg.”
Aracy de Carvalho served as head of the passport section of the Brazilian consulate in Hamburg, Germany. The Brazilian president at the time, Getulio Vargas, restricted the entry of Jews into the country.
“One of the tactics adopted to camouflage her actions was to omit the letter J, in red, on passports, a mark imposed by the German government as a way of identifying the Jew,” historian Maria Luiza Tucci Carneiro told the UOL news website.
Born in Brazil to a German mother, Aracy de Carvalho moved to Germany in 1936. She took the job at the Brazilian consulate and married assistant consul Joao Guimaraes Rosa, who later would become a famed Brazilian writer with his masterpiece “Grande Sertao: Veredas.”
The couple remained in Germany until 1942, when Brazil broke relations with Germany and joined the Allies. Aracy de Carvalho was recognised by Yad Vashem in 1982. She died in 2011.’ (1)
Looking at this narrative we can quickly see there is problem with the time-line in that Rosa operated till 28th January 1942 when Brazil decided to sever diplomatic ties with Germany at the Pan American States Conference in Rio prior to a formal declaration of war later that year. Given that the Third Reich only decided to enact the so-called ‘Holocaust’ on 20th January 1942 at the famous Wannsee Conference on the outskirts of Berlin.
So in other words if Rosa is to be claimed as a ‘Holocaust Rescuer’ then she had slightly less than eight days to discover a German state secret and rescue a bunch of jews. As you’ll almost certainly agree this is not only improbable but nigh on impossible.
Otherwise Rosa was only doing what other so-called ‘Holocaust Rescuers’ were up to; rescuing ‘poor jews’ from ‘Nazi persecution’ in activity completely unrelated to the so-called ‘Holocaust’ but now regarded as ‘prescient’ by pure historical fluke.
Therefore, we can say with a good measure of certainty that Rosa didn’t ‘rescue’ any jews whatsoever from the so-called ‘Holocaust’ and thus cannot be labelled as a ‘Holocaust Rescuer’ or the ‘Brazilian Schindler’.
