Patrick Dai and the Reality of Jewish Privilege in the Western World
Patrick Dai – formerly of Cornell University - became one of the poster boys for what Phyllis Chesler termed ‘The New Anti-Semitism’ in her eponymous 2003 book in the wake of Hamas’ successful surprise attack on Israel from the Gaza strip on 7th October 2023 and has since become quite the cause célèbre in the incestuous world of jewish and pro-Israel media sources and bloggers.
However - as I wrote in my article at the time - the shrieking and rending of garments in the world of jewish and pro-Israel media sources and bloggers wasn’t actually warranted since the principal jewish authority (and the most affected) at Cornell University – one Rabbi Eli Silberstein – to my surprise actually took a very sane and sage line on - and interpretation of - Dai’s anti-jewish online threats.
To quote my original article on the subject:
‘Rabbi Eli Silberstein of Cornell’s Lubavitch Chabad group – aka the Roitman Chabad Center - actually had a rather sane take on this before Dai was arrested:
‘These antisemitic posts were designed to sow panic and hysteria, which they, unfortunately, succeeded at generating. The fact is that by showing panic and fear we play into their schemes. The administration should respond to this with the fullest seriousness… the rest of us should take it for what it is - a cowardly threat and nothing more.’
And you know Rabbi Silberstein was right: Dai was clearly shitposting as we’d say and didn’t really mean what he said. He was just an angry Asian - and probably left-wing - Cornell student upset with Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians in the wake of Hamas’ surprise attack on 7th October 2023.
The fact that he did disrupt classes and clearly upset the jews at and around Cornell is understandable even from an anti-Semitic point view, but the fact that Dai is now trying to wriggle his way out of the consequences by claiming he was ‘suicidal’ at the time, has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) – probably Asperger’s Syndrome – and now claims that he ‘posted the awful things online in a misguided attempt to reveal the atrocities of Hamas’ is simply ridiculous.
Dai said some stupid things online and faces prison time as well as a hefty fine but doesn’t have the balls to simply say ‘Screw you’ to the jews and take his sentence like a man. Instead, he is trying to plead special circumstances and whine his way out the consequences of publicly offending jewry.’ (1)
Now in my above analysis we can see that I was well aware that Dai’s attempted use of the ‘mental health defence’ – via his ASD – would likely fail (it was after all rather contrived at best) but also that he’d likely get a significant sentence, so he’d have been better standing up like a man to the jews rather than be a snivelling coward.
The failure of Dai’s ‘mental health defence’ and his subsequently receiving a heavy sentence for his internet shitposting is precisely what has happened as ‘The Algemeiner’ crows when they write how: (2)
‘Former Cornell University student Patrick Dai, who threatened to perpetrate heinous crimes against members of the school’s Jewish community after Hamas’ Oct. 7 massacre across southern Israel, was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison on Monday, the US Department of Justice announced.’
‘The actions, for which Dai was promptly expelled from campus, were investigated by a terrorism task force and charged as federal hate crimes involving “threats to kill using interstate communications.” Declining to contest the government’s case at trial, he pled guilty. In addition to serving nearly two years in federal prison, he will, upon completing his sentence, be subject to three years of supervised release and levied a $100 fine.’
Now obviously Dai has been convicted and sentenced but yet despite the smug tone of ‘The Algemeiner’ article; it is worth noting that that Dai has been particularly heavily sentenced since Andrew King – an orthodox jew of nearby Schenectady, New York – was basically let off in 2017 for painting swastikas on his own house and claiming ‘anti-Semites were threatening him’, (3) which is not dissimilar than Dai’s actions but shows the fact that there is a significant difference in sentencing when it comes to jews faking ‘anti-Semitic hate crimes’ against themselves than when non-jews make similar threats.
Further evidence of this can be found in the fact that an elderly jewish man was discovered to have spray painted ‘anti-Semitic slogans’ across a jewish-owned restaurant in Paris in France in 2023, because they (predictably) owed him money and was similarly let off with relatively light treatment by the courts. (4)
Similarly, the jewish Berent family are still in hiding in California in the United States after smashing up their own kosher café in Winnipeg in 2019 and claiming they were being targeted by violent anti-Semites and in fear of their lives until it was discovered that they’d been doing it to themselves as a form of insurance fraud. (5)
Apparently Canadian authorities are unwilling to force their extradition and/or US authorities are in no rush to deport foreign jewish criminals back to Canada to face their justified comeuppance from the law.
What this shows is that a form of ‘jewish privilege’ – for lack of a better term – is operating, because while non-jews are heavily sentenced for ‘anti-Semitic hate crimes’ against jews but yet jews who fake ‘anti-Semitic hate crimes’ are either let off with light sentences or aren’t even pursued at all.
Thus, we can see that the case of Patrick Dai is yet more evidence that a form of ‘jewish privilege’ is operating in the western world.
