Hoax Alert: The Capitol Hill Hostage Hoax (2024)

According to Ron Kampeas writing at the ‘Times of Israel’ a so-called ‘anti-Semitic hate crime’ has occurred inside the US Capitol to Representative Brad Schneider of Illinois.

He writes how:

‘Vandals tore down Israeli hostage posters hanging outside the Capitol Hill office of Rep. Brad Schneider, an Illinois Democrat, a week after pro-Palestinian activists used megaphones and drums to protest outside his home in the middle of the night.

“My Capitol office was vandalized yesterday in a vile act of hate in which the posters of the more than 100 people still held hostage in Gaza (including 8 Americans) were ripped from the wall, shredded and tossed across the hallway,” Schneider, who is Jewish, posted Friday on X, attaching a photo of the posters scattered on the floor.

A spokeswoman for Schneider said the vandalism had been reported to the Capitol Police.’ (1)

Now despite all the posturing from both Kampeas and Schneider about how this is ‘motivated by anti-Semitism’ and is part of the ‘wave of anti-Semitism’. This is clearly just a political protest by individuals/groups who are motivated by anti-Zionist sympathies to tear down the most iconic form of pro-Israel propaganda that has appeared since the beginning of hostilities between Israel and Hamas on 7th October 2023.

It simply has absolutely nothing to do with ‘anti-Semitism’ - it doesn’t mention or even imply jews for pity’s sake - and everything to do with anti-Zionism.

They are not the same thing.
